AT A GLANCE
The FOCUS Conference is a "concentrated" conference designed
to give attendees a great deal of education and entertainment in a
short amount of time, thereby costing attendees less for hotels, meals, benefit time, and time away from loved ones. The conference begins on Thursday morning, March 24th, 2011 at
9:10am (7:00am if you are attending one of the optional early-bird breakfast workshops). The conference ends on Saturday March 26th, at 2:40pm.
We
believe you'll find this conference to be time and cost-efficient. Overall,
therapists and sleep technologists will be able to earn 19 continuing education
credits by attending this conference. One can earn a further 2 continuing education credits (for a total of 21) by additionally
attending one of four optional, early-bird breakfast workshops (at an
additional cost of $95). Below is a rundown of the agenda. To review specific lecture titles and

Becoming an Asthma Educator and Case Manager Pre-Conference Workshop
10:00am - 12:00pm, resuming after lunch and running 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Lecturer - Wendy Brown Pharm.D., AE-C and PA-C
This 6-hour workshop has a fee of $195 which includes handouts, materials, a certificate of completion and 6 CEU's. The fee for this workshop also includes lunch and later, a snack break.
Manager/Educator Mini-Conference and Cocktail Party
For its 11th annual conference, Focus is once again holding a special afternoon of management and education lectures that will be of interested to respiratory care and sleep medicine department directors as well as program directors in schools of respiratory care. The 8 lectures that will be presented (4 in management and 4 in education, run concurrently) will enable managers and educators to earn 4 additional CEU's the day before the main conference itself, begins. At the conclusion of the 4th lecture, managers and educators will be treated to a cocktail reception with hors d'oevres that will run from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. This entire afternoon of manager/educator lectures, 4 additional CEU's and cocktail reception is completely free of charge Respiratory Care and Sleep Laboratory Department Directors who are also registered for the full Focus conference. The significant other of department managers/educators are also welcome to attend any lectures they might be interested in as well as the cocktail reception, also at no charge whatsoever.
REMEMBER - Focus is allowing all attendees to bring their significant-others to the entire Focus conference totally free of charge ! (No CEU’s for this person, however). So, seize the opportunity to make the 2011 Focus Conference a mini-getaway for the two of you at very little extra cost.
Registration Desk
The registration desk will be open from 8:00am
to 8:00pm. Pre-registered attendees are encouraged to come by and pick up
their registration packets, tote bags and name badges. Attendees who need to register
on-site, are also welcome to do so at this time.
"Beach Boys" Dance/Concert - 8:00pm - 11:00pm
The fun begins the night before the conference with our concert/dance featuring the world's most famous Beach Boys tribute band - The Landsharks - who have actually played with, and opened for, the real Beach Boys as well as Jimmy Buffett, himself. The Landsharks are an eight piece band complete with horn section and an incredible steel drum player. Enjoy a trip back to the 60's/70's via this incredible show complete with cash bars, dance contests with prizes and of course, the hits you've been singing all of your life. It all takes place at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort Hotel the night before the conference begins and is free for all registered attendees and their families.

Annual Focus 5-K Run/Walk

- 8:30am - Focus will be holding its second annual 5-K
Run/Walk immediately outside the entrance of the Disney
Coronado Springs Resort. There is no fee to participate, but you must pre-register
for this event on the conference registration form. Participants should then
report to the race table (located in the Casita Courtyard)
at 7:00 am. The race will be professionally conducted and there will be a 1st place ($150), 2nd place ($100) and
3rd place ($50) prize awarded in both categories, that
is, for runners and for walkers. All particpants will
receive a commemorative T-shirt as well. Following the adult race, there will be a special .75-mile run for children ages 7-12. There
will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes awarded
for children and all child particpants will
receive a commemorative T-shirt and a certificate of
particpation. Children do not have to pre-register to participate in the race. Simply bring them to the race table at 7:30am.
