AGENDA AT A GLANCE
The FOCUS Conference is a "concentrated" conference designed to give attendees a great deal of education and entertainment in a short amount of time, thereby costing attendees less for hotels, meals and time away from home. The conference begins on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 9am and ends on Saturday May 12th, at 3pm. There are also optional, pre-conference educational events taking place on Wednesday, May 9, 2012.
Overall, therapists, sleep technologists and nurses will be able to earn 18 continuing education credits in their respective disciplines by attending this conference. One can earn a further 2 continuing education credits (for a total of 20) by additionally attending one of five, optional, early-bird breakfast workshops (at an additional cost of $95) taking place on Friday morning from 7am – 9am. Department managers and school educators can also earn four additional CEUs by attending the free Managers and Educators Mini-Conference on Wednesday afternoon, May 9th at 1pm. Finally, 6-8 additional ceu’s can be earned by attending any of our pre-conference mini-conferences taking place on May 9th , the day before the regular conference begins.

Becoming an Asthma Educator and Case Manager Mini-Conference
10:00am - 12:00pm, resuming after lunch 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Lecturer – Dr. Ben Francisco PhD AE-C
This 6-hour workshop has a fee of $250 which includes a CD of all materials, a certificate of completion and 6 CEU's. The fee for this workshop also includes lunch and an afternoon snack break. This program is approved for 6 Respiratory Therapy and Nursing CEUs.
Manager/Educator Mini-Conference & Cocktail Party
1:00pm - 5:30pm followed by a cocktail reception from 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Wednesday, May 9th from 1:00pm - 5:30pm. Two lecture rooms, running concurrently, will feature four management lectures and four education lectures providing four gratis CEUs for Respiratory Therapists and Sleep Technologists. The mini-conference will then be followed, at 5:30pm, by a private Focus-hosted cocktail reception for those attendees and their “significant-other”. (Professional business card showing status as a manager or educator is required and will be collected for admission to both the lectures and the cocktail party. Please bring a minimum of two business cards. Both will be entered into a drawing to win an Apple I-Pad 2 at the cocktail party. Must be present to win. Only registered paid attendees of the FOCUS conference may attend this special mini-conference and cocktail party
The BRPT's Clinical Sleep Educator Certificate Program
7:15am – 5:30pm
This course provides a day-long comprehensive overview of managing patients with sleep disordered breathing and other sleep disorders presented by nationally renown speakers. The workshop provides 8 CEU’s for Respiratory Therapists, Sleep Technologists and Nurses. The $275 fee includes a CD of the lecture handouts (plus on-line access to the handouts pre-conference) as well as a continental breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack break. Becoming a Tobacco Educator Mini-Conference
7:15am – 5:30pm
This course provides a day-long comprehensive program leading to a certificate of completion as a Tobacco Educator. This course has been formulated after numerous requests for a comprehensive tobacco educator program. Four faculty members consisting of one physician and three registered respiratory therapists (all of whom have also attained the TTS credential), will deliver the program. Application has been made for 8 ceu’s to the American Association for Respiratory Care. The $275 fee includes all speaker handout on CD (including on-line access to those handouts pre-conference) as well as lunch and an afternoon snack break. Third Annual Focus 5-K Run/Walk - Starting Line: The Detla Portico at the Gaylord Hotel

Focus will be holding its third 5-K Run/Walk for adults, on Thursday morning, May 10th. Participants will receive a t-shirt and there will be cash prizes for both runners and walkers, and for both men and women in each category. Focus wishes to thank Roche Diagnostics for their generous sponsorship of this event.

These workshops provide attendees with an in-depth treatment of a topic as well as a more experiential learning experience as the format allows for more interaction with the speaker during the workshop. Two additional continuing education credits are also provided as well as a hot breakfast.
The Workshops carry an additional fee of $95 per person.
