Hi, my name is Robert Miglino.  I am a registered respiratory therapist by profession and I am also the owner and proprietor of a small Italian café in “upstate” NY (Rhinebeck NY) called Leonardo’s.  I am 58 years old, the father of two, and a widower who was very blessed to have met a wonderful woman, (Lee), after my wife Maria’s passing six years ago. Being from Brooklyn NY originally, and being of 100% Italian descent, I simply love everything Italian - Italian food, Italian music, Italian history, Italian art, the beautiful Italian language (I’m learning) Italian culture, the Italian people, the Italian way of life and, well, I could go on and on and on.
In fact, my dream is to someday live in Italy at least 6 months a year!

For most of my life it had been a dream to someday own a home in Italy. Sure, I was lucky enough to have visited different parts of Italy about 5 times during my life, but that simply wasn't enough. In April of 2010, I made my dream come true when I found exactly what I was looking for – a modest, immaculate, comfortable and cozy home, right in the middle of the country! I didn’t want, (nor could afford), a giant villa in a giant city; instead, I wanted a modest home in a village that was off the beaten tourist trap locations but close enough to easily drive or train to anywhere in Italy I wanted to visit.  I found such a place in the small medieval village of San Venanzo which is in the region of Umbria right next to the region of Tuscany.  Although my house is young according to Italian standards (it’s only 120 years old), my house was completely modernized by the previous owners and by me since I purchased it, and it now has every comfort that a typical nice home in America would have.  The home is one block from the center of the village, walk-able to everything the village has to offer, meat market, fruit and vegetable stores, bakery, cafes, beauty parlors, community center (with lots of feasts and cultural activities), new in-ground pool and soccer stadium and lots more. Incredible views overlook the Italian countryside of olive groves, fields of sunflowers, vineyards and beauty simply everywhere you look. (More about San Venanzo above).
Since I’ve purchased the house I try to visit as often as I can, but alas, that is difficult since I still work full-time and since I still have a daughter in high school. I also cannot afford the cost of flying over as much as I’d like to.  As I get closer to retirement in the next few years, however, I hope that I will be able to visit more often and for longing durations. For now, however, I can only visit about 6 weeks a year.

And So,

I have decided to start renting the house out to others who may be interested in visiting this beautiful country while staying in my house comfortably and economically. San Venanzo is only 2.5 hours north of Rome and only 2.5 hours south of Florence by car. It is 40 minutes from such famous cities as Orvieto, Perugia and Assisi and incredibly, is only 15 minutes from the world-famous, (hand-painted ceramics) town of Deruta, (you could visit Deruta for 2 weeks, alone). San Venanzo is the perfect place to stay, not only for the charm of San Venanzo itself, but for its central proximity to literally hundreds of other cities across Italy.  For instance, did you know that San Venanzo is 40 minutes from Orvieto (famous world-wide for its white wines) and that Orvieto is a major train-stop in Italy?  Did you know that from Orvieto it is 1 hour by train to Rome and only 1 hour and 15 minutes to Florence? Did you know that one can park their car at the Orvieto train station for free for up to 5 days?
That’s what I’m talking about !!
You may also want to do very little, relaxing and soaking up the sunshine in San Venanzo. Take a book to the cafe or to the park immediately behind the house. Go for a walk or go to the pool. It's up to you.

I invite you to take a look at my home (lots of pictures above), check out the fees involved in renting it for a week or two, or even longer (you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how affordable I’ve made it) and then, if interested, contacting me to make the arrangements.  The property manager I hired to watch my house for me (Janine), has her office only 1 block from the house, speaks perfect English (she should, she's from England), lives in San Venanzo herself and is the nicest person, you’d every want to meet.  She and/or her business partner Giacomo, (who also speaks perfect English and is a great guy) would meet you at the house upon your arrival, orient you to the house and be available during your stay – just 1 block or phone call away.

Take a good look at this opportunity and feel free to e-mail me with any questions you might have bobm@foocus.com
You can also call me directly at 800-661-5690 Monday – Friday EST in New York.

Ciao!

Robert Miglino
